  • Why is my product not listed?

There could be two reasons for a product not being available on our website.

First, the product is not eligible under the above product eligibility criteria.

Second, your product is new and yet to be added to the approved product list.

Please contact us if the product you consider purchasing is not listed. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide retrospective incentives on products that are not approved and not listed on the Essential Services Commission register.

  • The process and timeline for adding new products
Zero Carbon Group will be adding new eligible products on a continuing basis. We first ensure product eligibility under the Scheme requirements and then submit the product to the Essential Services Commission for approval. The approval process usually takes around two weeks but may take longer.
  • What is the VEET Scheme?
The Victorian Energy Efficiency Target (VEET) scheme is a Victorian Government initiative promoted as the Energy Saver Incentive. It was established under the Victorian Energy Efficiency Target Act 2007 (the Act) and commenced on 1 January 2009.

The purpose of the VEET scheme is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, encourage the efficient use of electricity and gas, and to encourage investment, employment and technology development in industries that supply goods and services which reduce the use of electricity and gas by energy consumers.
  • How can I benefit from the scheme as a consumer?
The VEET scheme creates opportunities for you to upgrade selected products and appliances at a lower cost. With more energy efficient products, your energy use should drop, potentially leading to savings on your energy bills.
  • How can I claim my incentive?
You can claim your incentive through us. We have been accredited by a Government organisation (Essential Services Commission) to provide energy saver incentives to Victorian consumers in turn for them purchasing eligible energy efficient appliances. The incentive claim process is straight forward: simply fill out our online form and attach your receipt. Once your claim is approved by the Essential Services Commission we will provide you with the incentive specified on your assignment form.
  • What is the VEEC assignment form?
VEEC assignment form is the form consumers can use to assign their rights to accredited businesses to create VEECs.
  • What is a Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificate (VEEC)?
Each certificate represents a tonne of greenhouse gas abated and is known as a Victorian energy efficiency certificate (VEEC). For the first three-year phase of the scheme (2009-11), the scheme target was 2.7 million VEECs per annum, increased to 5.4 million VEECs per annum during the second three-year phase, starting on 1 January 2012
  • Why do incentive amounts change?
Incentive amount is directly linked to the price of the Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificate (VEEC) at any given time. VEECs are traded on the energy certificate market on a daily basis in the same way as foreign exchange currencies, commodities and shares. Since we have no control over the VEEC price, we will be required to adjust incentive amounts in line with the trading price, especially when the VEEC price experiences sharp rises and falls. Please review the most up-to-date incentive amount by navigating to the relevant appliance form and selecting your brand and model. Incentive amounts will not change under any circumstances for consumers who have already submitted a claim with us.
  • Will my information be kept private?
Your information will be treated with strictest confidence. For more information please refer to our privacy policy.
  • How is the VEET scheme funded?
The VEET scheme works by allowing accredited businesses to create certificates when they help you make selected energy efficiency improvements to your premises. Each certificate - known as a Victorian energy efficiency certificate, or VEEC - represents one tonne of greenhouse gas abated and the money the accredited business makes from selling its certificates can go towards a discount on the product or appliance installed for you. Each year large energy retailers are required to purchase a set number of VEECs to fulfil their obligations under the scheme and then surrender those certificates to the ESC.
  • Is the scheme compulsory for consumers?
The VEET scheme is completely voluntary and there is no requirement for a consumer to participate.
  • How long does it take to receive my incentive?
We will process your claim as soon as possible; processing times are generally within 3-4 weeks.
